4/18/2013 0 Comments Concepts/activities covered todayThe day began with a calendar review and assessment (Miss Usa). The students reviewed questions related to April 2013 calendar. After calendar review, students wrote in their journals and presented their responses. For ELA, students continued with the Poetry unit. Asked the students three questions to assess their knowledge of poems. What is a poem? Do poems always rhyme? Can you write a poems? I shared two poems with the students today, "Ego-tripping" by Nikki Giovanni and "Dear Mama" sung by Tupac Shakur. The two poems were examples of poems with rhymes and no rhyme. Students had an assignment in which they used magazines and newspapers to make "visual poems". They found images of/words for things that relate to their life. Functional math concept was Pie/Circle graphs.
